Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

NRP conveys an evidence-based approach to the care of the newborn at birth and facilitates effective team-based care for healthcare professionals who care for newborns at the time of delivery. NRP utilizes a blended learning approach, which includes online testing, online case-based simulations, and hands-on case-based simulation/debriefing that focus on critical leadership, communication, and team-work skills.
This course comes in 3 parts. The first two parts you do on your own. The third part

  • 1.Pre-course Studying – Students will need to read and review the“Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation (7th edition)”. The 7th edition Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation is the most valuable resource to prepare for the online course and the skills evaluation portion of the course. You may purchase this textbook from LifeTek or other sources.
  • 2. Online Course –This portion of the course may be purchased at

There are two sections of 25 questions, and four eSim cases. Students are required to score at least an 80% on the two sections of 25 questions and successfully complete 2 of the 4 eSim cases. The exam/eSim may be repeated until passed.

Prior to attending Part 3 (Skills Evaluation) of the course a student must successfully complete both portions of the exam and the e-Sim Cases. Please be sure to bring your certificate of completion to the instructor-led skills evaluation. If you do not have it we cannot allow you to attend this portion of the program.

  • 3. Skills Evaluation – Conducted at LifeTek Carlson classroom. Mandatory classroom portion including demonstration, hands-on practice, skills evaluation, simulation and debriefing.Course time approximately 4 hours.

Registration to #3 DOES NOT include access to the onlinecourse.The online course must be completed in no more than 90 days prior to the start of a skillsevaluation.

Course Completion: Successful completion of the online course and the skills evaluation will result in an American Academy of Pediatrics/AHA NRP certification card valid for two years.
